Westoz Boilermaking Service was established in May 2009 by Tristan Freind.
Tristan grew up on his family's farm in the central wheatbelt of Western Australia. As a teenager, he helped with the running of the family farm, as well as being involved with his family's two businesses as broad acre spraying contractors and cartage contractors. Growing up on the farm ignited his passion for agriculture.
Tristan attended Cunderdin Agricultural College for his final two years of high school and after graduating he commenced his apprenticeship as a boilermaker at Trufab (now Grainking), manufacturing farm machinery. Tristan would return to the family farm every weekend during his years as an apprentice to help out wherever he could. After completing his apprenticeship, he started working in the mining industry as a boilermaker for drill and blast company Brandrill. This was a real eye opener for him and with the mining industry in Western Australia thriving at this time, he saw the potential for big opportunities within the mining industry. After working in the industry for almost three years, Tristan decided it was time for a change, and started Westoz Boilermaking Service.
Westoz Boilermaking Service was established with the vision of offering an innovative, honest and reliable steel fabrication, welding and repair service to Australia's agriculture, mining and construction industries. Through dedication, hard work and an ongoing commitment to quality, Westoz Boilermaking Service quickly built a reliable reputation within these industries.
Westoz Boilermaking Service initially operated as a mobile welding and repair service across Western Australia for the agricultural industry, covering a vast area of the state. With the vision to expand business and break into other sectors, in 2010 Westoz Boilermaking Service moved it's operation from the small wheatbelt town of Dowerin, to Perth, Western Australia. It didn't take long to find a solid customer network with Perth-based businesses. With the benefit of WA's mining boom, Westoz Boilermaking Service quickly built a solid foundation for growth and expansion.
Westoz Boilermaking Service started fabrication of Chaff Cart Adaptor Kits in 2009, to support the fit up of Chaff Carts. Chaff Cart Adaptor Kits were initially fabricated and installed onsite at farms by the Westoz Boilermaking Service team, however, this was inefficient (taking 8-10 days) and costly to farmers. As a result, Westoz Boilermaking Service started developing a more efficient way to develop Chaff Cart Adaptor Kits. This led to the design of DIY flat-pack kits which can be freighted to farms and can be installed, by the farmer, in just one day.
After developing Chaff Cart Adaptor Kits, Westoz Boilermaking Service received interest from farmers to develop Chaff Lining Kits. The process of researching, developing and fine-tuning designs for various header types commenced in 2015 and by 2017, Westoz Boilermaking Service was shipping kits throughout Australia.
In 2019, Westoz Boilermaking Service started exporting their kits overseas to Canada and France. In 2020 kits were sent to the United States of America, and in 2022 Chaff Lining Kits were exported to the United Kingdom and South Africa, establishing the company as a leader in Chaff Lining worldwide.
