Chaff Lining Kits are used to concentrate chaff into one single line in the centre of the combine. This is done by placing a carefully designed internal baffle system inside the harvester to separate chaff from straw and by placing a chute at the rear of the machine. The straw is cut and spread as normal, while the chaff is captured and directed into the chaff lining chute as it exits the combine, it's then laid in a neat chaff line on the ground. The intent is to direct the combine on the same tracks each year, repeatedly laying chaff lines in the same location in the paddock, year after year. This is a proven option for controlling weed seeds at harvest and reducing in-crop weed issues.
